Seed growing at Persephone

Vegetable, herb, flower and native seed crops, grown with care on the Saugeen Peninsula.

Seed garden

We have been growing seed at Persephone since 2023.

In 2026, we are growing more than 15 vegetables, herbs and annual flowers to seed, as well as a half dozen native perennial flower species.

Available through small Canadian seed companies

The seeds we grow are available via several small Canadian seed companies:

Hawthorn Farm Organic Seeds
Northern Wildflowers
Northern Seeds

Native seed and crop diversity

Our seed work includes both food crops and native perennial flowers.

We are passionate about both “agro-biodiversity” (the diversity of crops grown by humans) and biodiversity. Agro-biodiversity is essential to resilient food systems. Restoring ecosystems and habitats is dependent on having healthy and diverse seed sources of native plants. Having many people and farms involved in seed work, spreads risk, while increasing resilience and joy!
